Dortmund and German native, 24 years old. I’m not a hardcore supporter of Borussia Dortmund, but I follow them as they are my home team. Grown up a stonethrow from the stadium, football was always a vital and important part of my life. I love my German Mannschaft ever since I sat in tears in front of the TV in the summer of 1990. I also have a weak spot for small teams like Iceland, Faroe Islands and Liechtenstein. Of course, only as long as they don’t play the Mannschaft. I’m gonna be a volunteer for both the city and the FIFA this WC, and I’m gonna root as hard as I can as a neutral volunteer for Germany. Overall, I just wish this is going to be “a time to make friends” - Die Welt zu Gast bei Freunden!

[...] I caught up with Benjamin, popularly known as Bense to get the German view. Bense writes in the World Cup Blog for Germany. He is 24 years old and is studying Economics in the University of Dortmund. A Mannschaft fan ever since 1990, Bense is going to volunteer both for the World Cup and his city during the World Cup. I thank Bense for agreeing for this interview. What challenges has Germany as a country faced and how has it overcome them looking back as the World Cup is nearly upon us? [...]
