Schweinsteiger Out of Qualifiers With Foot Injury

It's right foot trouble for Schweinsteiger

It's right foot trouble for Schweinsteiger

Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will miss the team’s upcoming qualifiers against Turkey and Kazakhstan after being diagnosed with a ligament tear in the right foot. Schweinsteiger complained of right foot pain following Bayern Munich’s 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. An MRI ordered by Bayern and DFB team doctor Hans Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt revealed the tear on Monday. There was no immediate word on whether a replacement would be named to the squad.

i would like to see Holtby in the squad, this is the opportunity for Low to take him to the game before he changes his mind of what country he will represent…
but still we have the same eternal problem… Mr. Gomez, he wont make goals at all in Bayern nor the national team, he has the worst performance of all the players in the squad and he continues to being selected for upcoming games… Low's selection policy is so complex and I'm almost thinking that he is in love with this guy…

Wow, hopefully this isn't a long term injury or else Bayern is totally ****ed. He's been one of our only well-performing players so far this season.

    1 word:D'oh

This matches perfectly with the crappy Monday morning weather. So I guess this means Träsch will be there to fill in making it an all VfB defensive midfield… hmm not goood.

If it were me now would be the time to call in Bender at least one of them! Jogi for the love of … call in some backup

Grosskreutz is sick by the way. 50/50 for Friday. I knew nothing good would come out of that Dortmund Bayern game.

  • Mazen

What are your expectations for the match Nick now that schweini's out?

  • Nick_GWCB

Hard to say… Of our starters for Friday the Bayern contingent Klose, Lahm, Badstuber, Müller, and now maybe Kroos have not exactly been in great form if results are anything to go by. (Luke might provide some more input here.) Both Boateng and Mertesacker have only recently returned from injury. (The latter had a spectacular game against HSV and then helpless against Inter where his slowness really got found out.) Neuer has not been happy at Schalke and his distribution was somewhat poor against Madrid. Podolski is up to his usual. Khedira was mysteriously substituted this weekend at halftime. Only bright spot to speak of is Özil. Marin is on form, but unlikely he'll be starting.

Which leaves Westermann, Riether, Träsch, Gomez, and Cacau. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Who knows maybe the training camp will help a lot. I figure if three of Klose Podolski Müller Özil is on form and Neuer keeps it together we can probably get a narrow win.

Wouldn't this be a chance for a late nomination of Holtby? Would have the other bonus that the constant media speculation about his future would stop. If not Holtby why not one of the Bender twins? I don't know how Lars has been doing but Sven Bender's been in fine form for Dortmund.

But then Löw is not a friend of late nominations so I guess its gonna be Träsch. At least he should be able to harmonise nicely with Khedira from their Stuttgart days.

Im not worried at all… well a little bit concerning not having Basti on the pitch. But it just seems, as always, that everyone plays about the same when putting on the NT kit. Unfortunately that includes Gomez too. Cant hardly get a goal since he left Stuttgart!

  • ED

I wouldn't be suprised if Westermann gets some minutes from Loew too and the Mannscahft should still have enough in the tank to get it done even though Schweini won't be there. Hopefully Marin will get some time on the pitch as he always bring some excitement to the game.
