Helmes Injured

June 12th, 2009 | By: Nick | 3 Comments »

Patrick Helmes will be out for about six months after he tore ligaments in his knee while playing sports on vacation. He underwent surgery Friday and will likely miss all the rest of Germany’s World Cup Qualifiers and a good half of the 2009/2010 Bundesliga season. All the best to him for a full recovery.

Now the pressure is all on Mario Gomez. Let’s hope this guy does not show up…

This is really bad news and I hope he fully recovers and is back to his best football later in the season. This means the potential €20m move to Stuttgart is also off the table.

True, Jan. Now I do not need to read all those constant rumours of Helmes heading to Stuttgart. This will put an end to it. Since Gomez’s big-money move to Bayern, Helmes had been one of those linked to my club…

Anyways, hope Helmes does get well soon.

Well with Helmes out, the selection of the forwards in the Germany lineup becomes much easier, but i hope he gets better soon and comes back to Koln. With Poldi and Nova they would form an awesome 3-man forward line.
