I think mediocre players like Hitzlsperger need to be sent offshore to prove themselves. If they end up like Hildebrand or Odonkor then it is an easy way to get rid of them. If they make a breakthrough then they can potentially become indispensable for us. In fact I am still banking on Metzelder staying put at Real and have a phenomenal season. Maybe this rumor was just spread to put some pressure on Stuttgart regarding a new contract? In any case, I think Hitzelsperger would have to fight for his place at Arsenal and might end up on the bench quite often, which might not help his World Cup ambitions...
