Arsenal Want Who ?!
Arsene Wenger is in talks to sign Stuttgart midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger (27). Apparently Joachim Löw and Wenger are drinking the same water. In all honesty, Arsenal has been in need of an experienced central midfielder and despite my reservations about “The Hammer” he has made some classy contributions to the Germany setup. Hitzlsperger is a team player and has been recently, for better or worse, a guaranteed starter for Germany . It would be a good move for both Arsenal and Stuttgart and an excellent move for Germany ahead of South Afrika. Who knows maybe Löw was right about him all along…

I think that Wenger simply lost a bet and now has to sign a mediocre German midfielder.

Guys, Horst Heldt had since said on the Stuttgarter Nachrichten that there is no such thing over the Arsenal move. Or so that is what I read from the rumour mill.
To be honest, I almost chuckled when I first read about the Arsenal link…

Okay, I had checked again. Heldt certainly confirmed that there is no such thing as an Arsenal move for Hitzlsperger.

Yup I read the Heldt statement too, although I also just saw that he has only one year left on his contract so now would be the time to cash in on him or extend the contract… Maybe this rumor was just spread to put some pressure on Stuttgart regarding a new contract?
In any case, I think Hitzelsperger would have to fight for his place at Arsenal and might end up on the bench quite often, which might not help his World Cup ambitions…

Well only Heldt has denied it, which could mean anything. I think mediocre players like Hitzlsperger need to be sent offshore to prove themselves. If they end up like Hildebrand or Odonkor then it is an easy way to get rid of them. If they make a breakthrough then they can potentially become indispensable for us. In fact I am still banking on Metzelder staying put at Real and have a phenomenal season.
