He probably knows now also that Ballack is indispensable and that playing two defensive midfielders without Ballack equals a 1-2 scoreline. His substitutions were not bad, but Schäfer should have started and stayed as LB for the whole 90 minutes. There's just something about Schäfer "nach innen geflankt" that sounds so good about it... :-) Well there's always that friendly in spring... It will most certainly be a B-Team versus B-Team game with most of the English team injured. Anyway the Hoffenheim callups are justified. The Hof has after all topped the tables of the 1. and 2. Bundesliga for a reason. The players selected are all of the mid-20 age group and this may be their last chance to prove themselves. Additionally, keeping together the young'ns in the U21 may be a good idea as some of them are simply not ready. What's more is that Germany is not as desperate as it was in 2004. With Eilts gone and thus a better coordination with the A-Team, it's basically a German B-Team on the ready. Still I wish Jogi had selected a less traditional lineup, one without Hitzlsperger.
