That Lahm-Marin interplay was liquid football! With Kroos set to become the next big thing at Bayern, things are indeed looking bright for Germany’s midfield

A couple other points about the game:
1. Well done to Tasci who had a solid and assured debut at the heart of defence.
2. I liked the fact that Podolski just got up and tried to get on with the game despite being Schumacher’ed by the Belgian keeper and clearly feeling the aftereffects.

Hope so. I had also read that he also has compliments for Serdar Tasci whom I read did started the match. I did not catch the match (not shown here) but if it’s just based on what the coach says alone of his performances, it makes my day as a Stuttgart fan. After being called up like four times to the national team, Tasci finally made his debut and I am happy for him.

Forgot to raise this in my earlier comment. Jan, I was reading around and there was like some sort of controversy over the placing of numbers and names on the players’ jerseys. What is really happening over there, if you have any idea. It sounds like the DFB is totally opposing to whatever FIFA is implementing.

I didn’t get to watch the game too and it’s a bit frustrating since Klose captained the first half (an obvious must-watch for me, Angela ^^) and oohh! Schweini took the armband for the second half–and then there’s the Marin-Lahm thing.

Anyway, hopefully Marin has let Jogi to trust in youngsters again since there are young players brimming with talents that need a national cap or two to boost their confidence. (:

Right on the money, Jan. Funny enough few days after Euro 2008, I was actually wondering aloud on my blog on what if Marin was part of the squad.

Other than that, I hope you can provide a more detailed analysis to the match. If you can, that is. This match was not shown at where I live, I didn’t stream this. I mean, it would have started at 3am here and I was sleeping at that time. So I can only depend on videos like what you posted and match reports. One I read said that it was a ‘comfortable’ win, another said that it’s a ‘patient 2-0 win over defensive Belgium’.

He won’t be able to thwart our party plans long if Marin keeps showing what he’s capable of. Belgium looked strong so it was great to see Lahm and Marin put the nail in the coffin.
