The truth about Bastian Schweinsteiger

June 21st, 2008 | By: angela | 10 Comments »

All through the Euro’s, “Schweini” hasn’t exactly played class football. In fact, you could argue that he hasn’t played well in some time. Yet, when Germany took to the pitch against Portugal, he seemed to play with style and flair. That passion that had long been missing from his game.

I’m sure you all wondered, as I did, what was the change in him? Was it motivation to want to stick it for Jogi getting kicked out and not being with the team? Frings’ injury? A promise of really awesome sex from his girlfriend? Or was it perhaps just as simple as Schweinsteiger happens to play his best football against Portugal? Nope. It wasn’t any of those things. What was it then? Simply, it was Angela Merkel. She is all the inspiration young Bastian needed.

Schweinsteiger was blatantly proud of his performance. He grinned like a Chesire cat and reported that Angela Merkel ordered him to “not make such stupid mistakes again, ever” at the third group match against Austria which he had to spend in the VIP area because of his ban. The supreme national team friend said to her favorite player that he should fulfill her wish: to play, please, “just like you used to” - she meant his heyday back at the WorldCup 2006. Schweinsteiger immediately did what the First Lady of the country whispered to him. Because: “What the chancellor demands, you have to do.”

I don’t think anybody will underestimate anybody in the elimination round. Though I hope and think Germany will win, nobody knows for certain. If we did, we wouldn’t need to play.

“I saw some of the players lying on the pitch,” said Fatih Terim, the Turkey manager, aka The Emperor in his native land. “I told them to pick themselves up. I wasn’t about to give up. I never have in all of my career. You should never give up until the referee blows the final whistle.”

How silly to say regarding Bastian Schweinsteiger: All through the Euro’s, “Schweini” hasn’t exactly played class football.” He didn’t play in the first match and he completely dominated Portugal and Turkey.

He’s the new 100,000,000 million Euro man. Not renaldo.

See you in the finals.

Roger,
It’s even more silly to think Schweinsteiger is worth more than 25 mil. He doesn’t have the technical skills. He’s a runner who played two good matches against poor opponents, no more no less. Compare him to Ballack, who is worth a lot more.
