Oh my god, Schweinsteiger is never going to be able to visit Portugal again — and he loves it! Yeah Schweini!

Sorry, you Portuguese,

you are among my most favourite European comrades, and I swear to God this is no irony nor any hypocrisy.

It’s just that I wanted our ( German ) team to be more successful than yours.

But: GREAT RESPECT, PORTUGAL !

the germans are big and tall, height played a major role in the game.

As Scolari predicted. But this was less about height advantage and more about bad defending. Plus one beautifully crafted goal to get things started.

A quick reminder and warning: keep it civilised and talk football. I don’t tolerate personal insult tirades or flamewars here.

From a Portugal fan: Congratulations Germany, good luck in the rest of the tournament.

I’m off to drink more Superbock and listen to some fado ;-)

Now C-Ron can concentrate on flirting with Real and angering Ferguson and Scolari can concentrate on spending that blank cheque Roman’s given him =) I won’t be surprised if Scolari tries to entice Schweinsteiger, heh, given how he’s played real class during the last two times Portugal and Germany meet.

Hey Readen,

I think you weren’t paying attention.
A german defender stepped on Ronaldo’s foot. That must have hurted.
Have you seen Ballack going down in the 40st minute for nothing? Have you seen Lehmann acting as heavaly injured when in fact he wasn’t hit at all?

Because of all this unsportive acting and cheating, I’m not a fan of both the German and Portugese teams. It really sickens the game and makes it awfull to watch.
But hey, that’s their way of playiong right? As long as you win you’re happy.

‘He loves the Portugese so he loves to shoot at the back of their net. :D’
Oh yeah. When I saw the replay on how the goal came about, I was like ‘Whoa!’. In fact, Schweini’s goals against Portugal two years ago during the World Cup was how I first knew of him. :) So in a way it brought me back those memories again.

‘The curtain behind the scene was the decision to drop Gomez and choose Hitz/Rolfes to replace Frings; also he chose to play the 4-5-1 with Klose up front and Podolski again in the left wing forward/winger… So damn GENIOUS!!!! That’s Loew I used to know, not the one who got a temper 2 days ago.’
FengFeng, until the cameras aimed at him each time, I kept forgetting he was not allowed in the dugout. I don’t know why. At least the formation worked out this time.

Yes, you were right and i was wrong. I was on a high and forgat one of the basic rules of football (11 player, 90 minutes and in the end the germans win…)

by the way,
how should we translate the name schweinsteiger? pig-climber? pig-mounter?

Nope, it would be pigpen like the character from Peanuts. A Schweinsteige was the old German word for pigpen. So apparently that’s where his family earned a living centuries ago.

Maarten - instead of translating Schweini’s name, just give him Kudos for a great performance. I am not concerned about your last name possibly being Van der Arsch.

This tourney is turning into a wrapped up present for Germany. all the other semifinalists will be tired. Spain Italy will end on penalties or the 119 minute.

I suppose Germany is very likely to eliminate Turkey, just as Russia might kick out Spain.

That would be a Germany - Russia final.

And even though, being German, I support Germany, I am afraid Russia will snatch the CUP. :-(

Or maybe not … :-)
