Should be a good match, both teams are sound and play a similar style. Germany has a bit more in the tank, I think, but Sweden should be able to attack and score. If defenses are good, maybe 2-1 Germany, if not, maybe 3-2 or 3-1 Germany. I’m sure Klinsmann is doing some extra set piece defensive work after seeing the England match. :)

sweden doesn’t have that good of an offense as opposed to the germans, plus they are playing in munich, we all know the heart of german soccer lies in bayern, the swedes will not be able hear themselves think!
2-0 deutschland!

I say 3:0 Germany. They need to find the goal a lot. If they win, Argentina will most likely be next.

One defensive weakness that I think Sweden have and which could be their breakdown especially against Germany, is their weak fullbacks. Alexandersson is a former classic wing, I’m sure some remember him when he was at Sheffield W, and on the left side Hedman isn’t very strong either.
If those two can’t hold their own against Germany’s attack from the flanks, and perhaps more than any other team so far, the germans do love to attack from there, they have ideal targets in Klose and Ballack, the normaly solid central defence of Mellberg and Lucic may be in over their heads.
The fullbacks may end up needing a lot of help from the midfielders and if that’s the case too often, exploring germany’s weaknesses will become even more difficult. Sure Ljungberg is great at the transition game but not if he is using all his energy defensively.
I don’t think the Swedish passing game can resist the German pressure high up the field either (on the other hand I predict that a technical good side will KILL the germans if they continue to play like this) so I expect a lot of swedish longballs and it will then largely be up to the forwards to create something.

This same day, June 24, in 1958, in the World Cup in Sweden, Sweden eliminated Germany by 3 : 1 in one of the most dramatic encounteres I have ever watched on TV.
Hmmmm … Now what are we to make of this? ;-)

Germany should win. The only problem I see is Germanies right side with Friedrich at the back. Ljungberg should have a real field day against him. I have the feeling it will go to extra time tonight, possible penalties. It will be a game to remember.

All the best to both teams. I have to say this to all my Swedish Friends.
But my heart lies with Germany.
