Lehmann to remain Germany’s No. 1 goalkeeper. With Kahn’s decision to retire from international soccer, it looks like his backup will be Stuttgart’s Timo Hildebrand.

will Lehmann last untill 2008?

and actually, he was his performance so great at the world cup see:

of course statistics often lie, but Lehmann let in 5 goals and made only 13 saves hardly the greatest efficiency …

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Another way of looking at is is that the German defense only allowed 18 shots on goal (saves + goals allowes), which is way better than that of Italy (29). I don’t think that anyone would say that the German defense was better than that of Italy, however. Basically what I’m saying is that in soccer you can’t base everything on statistics.
