Yep, Klinsi did a magnificent job of rebuilding Germanys national team and instilling in it a new spirit. They played beautifully, and with more experience, will be a formidiable opponent in the coming years. If I had to bet, I’d bet he’ll be back…at least through Euro 2008 but probably also through the 2010 Cup. I don’t think he’ll see his work as through with what he’d done here, he needs to lead Germany to a major success. A Euro championship would be good, another WC championship would be best, and doing both is an achievable goal.
After he decides to stay, he has to take the team to the next level. It’s fairly easy to play as underdogs, there’s no pressure of expectation. Now that he’s shown a bit of ability in the team, those expectations will come. He’ll need to get a new mindset into the team, one of hard, high goals, of singular focus, and of ultimate triumph.
I, for one, am psyched about Germany’s prospects going forward.

we’ll right now it seems that he’ll quit, it’s all over the news right now.

Klinsmann steps down officially…

sad news and regret his decision…his job is not done yet…at least after Euro 2008.
Now the question is, who will replace him? Who will continue his style of coaching? Will the feeling will still be the same without him in the Germany’s camp? Can the next coach continue his style and to coach the Germany team to remain its attractive attacking footbal? Nobody care if Germany lose in the future especially in Euro 2008 as long as they maintain their playing and improve their game and surely losing percentage will be lesser. Infact they could win the Euro 2008. But, can anyone replace him at this critical stage when Germany team still in a development stage? Anyway, would like to congratulate Klinssman for his successfull world cup 2006 with the team even if they only manage to get 3rd place but their football is so attractive and full of attacking mindset compare to the last 2 World Cup tournament which is a conservative style in my oppinion.

this is what happened when people never trust him since the first time he taken over the team. When the team’s performances is going down especially before the World Cup 2006 starts, people critics his tactic harshly and the way he coaches but the fact is it is just a way to find out the right combination of players and tactics. But, once the team showed that they can match with the best and elite teams in the WC2006 and won the game beautifully, play attractive attacking football even if they lose in the semi and get 3rd place beating Portugal, people starts to praise him until hoping that he will never leave the team. Now, I think maybe Klinssman realize about that too because he is just human like us. So he steps down.

I agree with Seth in that he’s probably thinking back to all the abuse he took building up to the tournament. All the late-comers and jumpers-of-the-bandwagon were once vociferous detractors, and he knows it. I also think he puts his family at the top of his priorities, and rightfully so. If he lived in Germany, it might be a different story, but that California to Germany commute would get old quickly. Too bad for Germany, I hope they find someone that will run with what he’s started.
Now about that possible coaching vacancy with the US team… ![]()
