[...] Japan 2 – Germany 2 …including Germany, who had a slightly harder time with Japan than they did last game against Luxembourg. Naohiro Takahara scored twice in the second half to put Japan up by two goals, but Germany stormed back to earn the draw thanks to goals by Miroslav Klose and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Neither keeper scored in this one. [...]

Let me start by saying that I’m no fan of Germany and that I always love to see them lose. However, for the first time in my life today, I actually felt bad for Germany watching this disastrous performance on the eve of a World Cup to be played on their home ground…What I felt even worse for is watching a great player like Klinsmann shake his head as his team went 2-0 down to Japan…The German team lacked any creativity in front of goal and reduced to predictable crosses that were very unaccurate at times…No wonder their two goals came from set pieces…But once again, luck will be on Germany’s side as they fall in the easiest of group with teams current having even more disastrous performances (Poland and Costa Rica).

“and that I always love to see them lose.”
That explains much of the comment.
To start with the serious part about yesterday. I do not belive that germany has the players to play with the tactic that Klinsmann prefers if someone looks at the situation in the defense.
But that should be a problem for the second round and not for the group matches.
The japanese team was simply more willing to win this match and to fight for this victory. They run more and palyed a solid defensive tactic without beeing really good.
Compared to the other matches yesterday this was a very fast match and also physical from the japanese team.
If soemone watches the polish or the czech match you could also see the hard weeks of the traings camp and the problems here.
i think the german midfield and strickers are able to play a very good world cup but as said the problems are clearly the defense that additionaly suffers from the tactic of Klinsmann.
I guess for this german team everything is possible if they are able to stabalize in the defense they could really play a good WC.
I believe they are better than many people think.
The german team will be very dangerous at corners and free kicks. Germany has a lot of players in their team that can strike with a header like Ballack Klose Borowski Mertesacker …. It will be very hard for every defense to play against so many oportunities in this situations and german teams were always very strong in this situations.

I have every respect for Klinsman, but I can not believe that he called some guy like Nowotny in his squad. He played maybe ten games in all season in Leverkusen and some guy like Worns stay at home because he and Klinsmann do not have good relationship.
