Good news for German fans

German assistant coach says Ballack and Klose will be fit for Italy. I hope that Ballack rediscovers his scoring touch. They’ll need it the rest of the way.

Fit, I doubt, they will be on the pitch because Germany have no worthy substitutes but they won’t be much of a threat to Italy.

Well done Germany, nobody thought you would get this far in this world cup but now it’s time for real talent.

I don`t think Germany wants to face Italy here, since Italy has handled Germany better than any other team over the years. This is very similar to the mastery that France seems to have over Brazil.Germany, playing at home, will still be the favorites, but the Italians are finally starting to surge and will make it very tough for the Germans. If Germany can somehow win, then they will surely beat either France or Portugal, in the finals. But I`m afraid that it will be an Italy-Portugal final.

Germany will break that jinx or virginty against Italy
why? because in those other 2 occassions germany were not the hosts
Italy are always beaaten by the hosts

there are some other, more positive, statistics:

1. Germany never lost a game in Dortmun (13 wins 1 draw)

2. in every wc-final since 1950 (except 1978) either brasil or germany participated

3. i don’t get the fifa-judgement on frings, im a big fan of fair-play, if he’s hitting someone he should be out for at least 3 games, but the evidence is not convincing, even cruz admitted that he wasn’t hit by frings, the referee was 2 meters away, he didn’t react at all, and the foto shows just his fist near his face not in his face.

I believe the following factors will play relevant roles in Germany winning the game versus Italy:

1) Italy will face difficulties with Germany’s ability to get the ball into the corner and create cross passes finished with headers

2) Fitness level, as the Italians will inevitably play defense-first strategy and the game goes longer the Italians will start to think about Germany’s shootout record and Italy’s shootout record. The Italians are 2nd worst only to the English in shootout records. The Italians will need to open the game up at some point but face Germany’s faster speed up the flanks.

3) Home crowd advantage

Additionally, the man behind The Conversion of a Panzer to a BMW Roadster will out-strategize the Italians.
