Getting from 16 teams down to four. My final four is a little different: Germany, Italy, Holland, Brazil. Time will tell who’s right.

Yo Ralfie boy,

I think you were refering to me me with the “refereeing” quote. It would really help on a blog if you could READ. I always find that useful.

No im not English as a matter of fact, Im Scottish and we hate the English more than you do mate!

It is a known fact in all world cups and more laterally European championships that the home nation have a definate advantage when it comes to referees. And come to think of it……………what a massive coincidence that Greece won the last Euros, especially with the Olympic games just round the corner and ticket sales moving slower than milk turning into yoghurt. What a surprise Greece are not at the world cup, fantastic European champions that they are. And lets not forget the host nation Portugal getting to the final, and what about France 98 when Ronaldo takes a mysterious illness just before kick off, and what about Argentina 86 with the hand of God, and what about Germany 74, and England 66. You want me to go on SUCKER?

Wake up and smell the coffee Ralfie boy. Germany havent needed any dodgy refereeing decisions yet because they have been playing “shite” teams but you mark my words, when there is a dodgy call required GERMANY will get them.

I wish Germany all the best, I sincerely hope they beat the Argies for the simple fact that they just screwed me a belting winner.

I backed at 500\1

Rafeal Marquez to score 1st and Argentina to win 2-1. Yeah unlucky or wot! If only I could get my hands on that bloody linesman who ruled that goal off in injury time!

But then again, why no TV evidence?? Oh shit, i forgot, that would rule out the CHEATING AND FIXING THAT IS GOING ON IN THIS GAME.

Mara1ona, why do we watch then?

It seems a given that germany will win this one. They are playing well, are the home team and lets not forget sepp is german. The refs wont let anyone even blink in a Germans direction.

why dont we boycot this shit.

@g-mac

If you are refering with ’sepp’ to Sepp Blatter, you are wrong: He comes from Switzerland. Thanks God!

it’s always so easy to find excuses when you don’t like the outcome of a match, isn’t it mara1ona? :-)))

What excuses queek? Im not making any excuses. Just saying that Argentina scored in 90th minute. TV evidence would have cleared that up no problem. They even have huge big bloody tv screens in the stadiums! So where is their excuse??

Klinsmann has done a brilliant job considering the dearth of talen available at his disposal. My expectations of Germany has been met with a place in the quarterfinals. Anything more is a plus! I hope that the match vs Argentina will be a cracking affair for the right reasons… :-)

Germany has 3 sharp shooters with only two cylinders firing so far. Ballack will begin hitting the net and when he does they will match striking power of the worlds best. Germany and Argentina are matched in striking to date without Ballack in the picture.

Germany ca not win over Arg. Arg are too strong and technical on the ball. The size advantage for Germans may only help them on corner kicks. Argies wil put the ball on the ground most of the time where the Germans may truggle to adjust to that type of game. South American game is completely different from European style.

Well, I think who ever is going to win the Germany- Argentina game will raise the world cup 2006, and MARK MY WORDS: Germany is the only harmonious team. They have plenty of hidden talent that will show in the next game.

For me the team most fun to watch is Germany. How different from the last few years when they were only playing not to lose. They have great attacking players who know how to execute unlike so many other teams, including Argentina. Forget Sebia Montenegro…
I believe the Germans can beat the Args, the Game against Mexico showed (me) they’re really not invincible.
The final four… Italy, Brazil, Germany, and Spain.
France has been permitted to disappoint for far too long and England, as much as i love them won’t make it past Brazil even if they beat Portugal.
Brazil and the Host in the Final… I hope.

Jmh:
being German, I like your entry, naturally. We are optimistic, yet still biting our nails a bit ;-) . Share your view on England, too.

A final GER vs BRA would be great (in which, should the football gods have determined so, defeat would be easier to bear than against anyone else).

Guys Guys Guys….. put your feelings aside if you want to speak FOOTBALL, the Germans are not only playing on their fields, they are showing a strong bond and harmony between them whether you like them or not. Well, I don’t know how well educated you are all in soccer, but the number of brilliant players in the team is considerable, I’m not going to compare them to any other team but just watch there confidence in the field.
Germany is obviously going to the finals
Good Luck

hmmm, germany vs. italy, im gonna go with the home team advantage i say germany will pull off a tightly contested, close game, and now i think zidane’s career will extend one more game as well, with france clearly beating portugal, france is just to experienced, even though portugal has c. ronaldo, so in the final of france vs. germany, i think ill go with france losing, as always, because their momentum from brazil and portugal will die with a german goal in the first few minutes, so yah,,,thas wut i think

It will be a final between Germany and France. These two teams have all the momentum and fan backing is strongest now. France has shown they are finals material as has Germany. I feel France will be the World Cup winner if they meet. But we Americans are not big supporters of France don’t you know. They have forgotten who saved their ass in World War II already when Germany had them on their knees and they slam America each time they get a chance. I would not be unhappy if Germany beat the hell out of them.

Germany v. Italy: I think that it will be one of the closest games of this entire cup, and I see Germany winning it in overtime because these teams are very evenly matched. Italy has an impressive defense, but Germany has the firepower with Klose and Podolski. If they don’t finish it in overtime, Lehmann will make sure to come up with some crucial saves in penalites to send Italy home.

France v. Portugal: I don’t have to say much, Portugal will lose for sure. They crawled out of the match with England by luck of Rooney’s red card. An England France game would have been much more exciting.

So the Final will be Germany v France: Although I hate to see Zidane lose on his last match, I see Germany winning with not much of a hassle. This France team is not nearly as good as the one that won the final in 98. Sure, France has momentum and confidence, but Germany has momentum, confidence, and home advantage. France will be lucky if they only allow 2 goals in their loss against Germany.

I think all of you italy/argentina/portugal fans should **** off. they are the dirtiest in soccer. i’m proud of FIFA for getting the refs to clean up the game this year. it’s gonna be a learning curve for now, but by next world cup we’re gonna be treated to some unsullied sporting. let the italians and argentinians rot and let the honorable teams (germany, france, england and many others play at will) see who’s best. i hope soccer becomes the the world’s best sport again.
